The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     拍给abc看的，所以共鸣点不多，场景很漂亮，母亲的造型很刻板，更像民国的妈妈，居然还有满清的装饰，旗袍可以接受。不过，对于歪果仁这个设计已经很好了！

    一间房、两个人的长片，编剧可以封神了。一开始，看到两个人开房，我暗想：“不要露点、不要出现啪啪啪镜头”。完全符合观影预期。如果一开始啪啪啪，就定了情涩的调了，就俗套了。编导很清楚这点，所以影片清新脱俗。实际还是情涩片，只不过是注重精神内涵、不以视觉刺激取胜的情涩片。性的主题、欲望话题从始至终。每个眼神、每句台词、每个镜头，充满性暗示。但导演的克制，俘虏了观众，从心甘情愿“求而不得”，到最后“高潮”。前面95分钟是“前戏”，最后2分钟是“X高潮”。

    《都柏林动物》的造作表达之后，凭借这部更为真诚、具有观点也玩弄言语花俏的电影回归，有很令人印象深刻的进步。“嫖客”与性工作者畅聊人生，试着同时享受欢愉与诊疗，好一出“我不卖身，我卖真诚；我不买肉，我买心声”；尽管也是另种形式的主室内戏，却依然跟随对话受到情绪感染。试着给一个朋友描述整个电影，对方“啊，这听起来就很像Emma Thompson演的电影”；她在片中做出了个很大胆的示范，也完成了与导演一样的、酷酷的大银幕宣言。

    3.5分吧，主要立意是讲女性终于鼓起勇气接受那个充满欲望的自己，这部分讲得很好，但是对提供性心理疏导服务的男性，刻画得就很欠缺说服力，那样的表达方式和行为都更像是纯粹的女性幻想，本质上和对“霸道总裁”故事一样，都是从虚空里构建的。所以其实也让这个故事的救赎意味变得经不起深想了。所以最后还是要靠让观众和性压抑的女性产生共情，才能把意义接住。这样的思考当然是很值得做的，只是太小心翼翼了，要真诚地谈论性和欲望，用这种太注重整洁的方式，是不是仍然什么也没打破呢？

    预告比正片好看，相较于我的期待来说正片比较失望，没看之前看到超过8的评分，在想哇看来不会差，但看完之后再想，为什么居然能有8？？以中国传统文化为背景的想法很好，但剧情和表现形式稍微有点低龄化，内容也有点浅和散。不过和pixar相对比较常见的邪不胜正啊阖家欢乐啊的主题比起来，中国传统中子女与父母的关系更加复杂，所以这种压抑和反叛我们来看应该是更加感同身受的。不过话说回来，追星这点也很真实哈哈哈。整个片子最给分的是红熊猫真的好可爱！

    无聊版的state of union，毫无电影感，看似以单刀直入谈性色变社会症结的巧妙角度讨论中年女性广泛面临的性羞耻和性压抑，实则还是那套乏味至极的弗洛伊德陈词滥调。第三幕的强行冲突尽显编剧的能力不足。第四幕收尾我们似乎认识了Nancy，但对Leo的塑造远未达到剧本预期的身心彼此探索「疗效」，他依然是个提供欢愉的圣人，仅此而已。作为年轻演员和表演大师在戏剧空间互动的教材仍有意义，但除非对演员感兴趣否则可以直接跳过这部。

    PS:一个宗教老师对性工作者说再多“我尊重你的工作”，都不如把与他的关系公开给自己曾经的学生来得诚恳。同理，再多技巧性的心理咨询，都不如生活中真实的爱与包容来得有效。可惜一个生活中真能拥有许多爱与包容的人，才不会需要心理咨询。
