The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 作为一个成本只有100万的小制作真的不错。有遗憾也有惊喜。
台词太差 逻辑上没什么大问题 可能外国人看了会觉得还行吧 我的理解毕竟中文母语 我们很快能精准理解 但是外国人只看剧情 翻译再好一点 确实还可以
故事讲的挺完整，演技上也不好再多苛求什么，但最大的问题在于太无趣

就三位不知名演员演出的这么个小成本制作，谁能想到居然牛了个x了。有似曾相识的元素，但又不一样，听说剧本还被好莱坞买走，有前途。
细节处理一般，故事关键节点模糊，但整个故事核心足够吸引，气氛做的好，就是森林景色太多，有点多余，三星完成度，多给一星鼓励。
非常期待后边两部作品！导演加油！
三星半。编剧雷神的处女座，有些不成熟的地方，但是可看性挺强。剧本、摄影、打光、配乐、剪辑都三星。流畅度、表演、细节四星。希望导演继续拍下去，越拍越好吧!
这就是原创者和复制者的差距，原创者有合理的思路来铺垫剧情，而复制者就只能按照现有的东西生搬硬套。就像做题的和抄答案的，做题的可以写出整个解题过程还可以适当补充，而抄答案的就只知道答案。

还可以，低配版《彗星来的那一夜》，有几处摄影配上电音营造出的氛围很不错。虽然说剧本有点让人失望，每次给出关键线索后以为会来一个标准的类型题材反转时几乎都拉垮了，看得我恨不得抢过本子自己改写然后把导演踹开自己来拍。
挺不错的，国产小成本佳作，值得鼓励，但故事性略欠缺，稍显单薄
国产版《彗星来的那一夜》。最后去到了自己想要的完美空间。
