The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 近年国产做得最好的一部。在天台那里特别动人。剧情尚缺，算是国产动画通病了，但电影本身绝对是瑕不掩瑜，画面和人物设计。看了有些连艺术创作和纪录都分不清的评论，我大概也有点想得通为什么国产片的剧情都这么烂……（最后没有说阿娟他爹醒过来我长舒一口气，剧情烂的地方很怪，城市和打工人的关系，阿猫阿狗阿强靠舞狮挣钱的情节，女性阿娟的设计，有时候bgm莫名其妙，种种看起来仿佛是不在一个水平上的两个编剧写了拼起来的）
立意以及故事本身- 在印度这样一个权利呈金字塔形，上游俯视下游的国家为低种姓部落人群伸冤的人权官司故事，还被拍出来，着实属于ground breaking了，但是剧本和镜头，电影语言和配乐等等，确实也数不上高明。用Zoe的话来说就是，音乐一起，主人公还没干事呢，我就知道他要干大事了。可以把它理解成印度独有的电影手法，毕竟主角的MV时间确实都是给足的，但是从观影体验来说，这种直给操作really not my cup of tea. (无碟 TV BOX avec Zoe)
眯眼画风着实接受无力，借鉴网梗的尴尬笑点更使本就缓慢的叙事节奏更加难熬，唯一亮点的南方地域刻画一旦脱离五条人与九连真人便全然丧失感染力。不能理解这样一部故事平庸、叙事乏力、人设套路、美学崩坏的影片，为何被捧上神坛？多数人缺少的并非是怒吼的勇气，却恰是与生活鏖战的耐心以及与苦难交手终生的底气。
很多人被现实按在地上摩擦，最终屈服了。
这是我最喜欢的电影之一。你可是被英雄花砸中的人啊！【电影传递了那么多有人却只看得到眼睛大小。
那些说燃的，早上开早会多吼两句一样也很燃。
光影场景真实感极强，狮头绒毛很细腻，那沾水时一缕缕的质感——雨水的处理国漫绝无仅有。但人物建模廉价，可谓冰火两重天。
最后的彩蛋里，阿娟还是去了上海，住在脏乱差的宿舍里，面对着擎天柱一样的东方明珠，守护着曾经的舞狮梦想和那个还没有开始就无疾而终的爱情。心酸又现实。强仔也一定又回去送咸鱼，阿猫仍然一事无成，阿狗也依然做回那个屠夫。相信奇迹又怎样，跨上了擎天柱又怎样，普通人实现阶级跃迁哪里这样简单。想起那些口口声声说“穷就是因为懒”“没钱就去搬砖送外卖”的人，请不要在“何不食肉糜”。贫穷不是个人问题。农民辛苦种了一辈子地也依然贫穷，只有微薄的退休金和日渐上涨的物价；在外打了一辈子工的人也依然治不起病，甚至没有“工伤险”，只能不断地消耗子女亲人。那么多穷人拼命想把孩子往高处送，却受限于环境、教育、家庭。就算子女好不容易有了学历、地位，却因为家乡的父母生病、弟妹读书、缺乏远见…失去了一次又一次的机会，又变回平庸……
一场追逐梦想和现实妥协的矛盾冲突，题材对准了底层劳动人民和留守儿童，虽然影片前半段的“咸鱼翻身”不免俗套，但是不影响后面的燃，所以是要梦想还是要生计？最后结局找到了平衡，狮头挂在那里，生活依旧，梦想也在延续。
其实舞狮并不能改变什么，也不会真的让你走向成功。但生活中总是要有点奔头，要有一口气，这才是活下去的理由，也是会觉得热血的原因。
太多剧情都不合逻辑，完全是为了主题硬凑，这先不提。最严重的是没有一个人物的动机是成立的，主角到底为了什么去舞狮根本没说清，一开始说不想被欺负，中间又说想让爸妈看到自己，最后看到女孩有男朋友又失落？合着你是为了女孩才舞狮？阿猫阿狗的动机呢？一个为了看美女，一个为了吃饭，后面也不说了。同村的舞狮队的行为也是前后矛盾的。
在熬过前半段的真空叙事后，影片从少年登上开往广州的大巴车的时刻起精彩了起来，不逃避现实的态度是可贵的，从观众反应来看也是有效的。编剧还写了《燃野》，基本可以看作一本两拍，好在《燃野》犯的错，大部分都被《雄狮》规避掉了。看到最后我哭的很伤心，登上山头的终究是狮头而不是少年，而这就是生活的常态。
唉，我想多了。
雄狮少年大概是那种你会觉得故事俗套，笑点老旧，人设简单，但依然让你每个毛孔都跟着燃烧的好片。它一定有某个瞬间触动了你，或是咸鱼强重拾当年的梦想，或是师母在电视机前对老公的夸赞，或者，是最后阿娟留在擎天柱的半只狮头。
这样表现时代精神和普通人顽强不屈的品质的电影竟然被陷入辱华泥潭，真是时代之耻、你我之耻。
我愿誉为“中国现实主义动画”开山之作！非常棒~

并不是个人传记，这片名不是很恰当，可能这人名气大，能吸引人去看电影
