The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 节奏、演员演技、故事和整体议题价值性都很棒，虽然最后 为了画面美感 所有街上人都是黑色伞有点儿脱离现实了 其他都蛮好的 很棒的一部。 看完好沉重啊………有时候邪恶的成本太低，维护正义的成本太高。 但世界本不应该如此。
“不只换来一场烛光游行”。至于吗？不至于吗？
陈思诚看了都要立马去拍《误杀3》。前期铺垫实在太长了，而且女主一看就是不会真杀人的啊，这就更无聊了。唯一值得表扬的就是“司机是凶手”的这个设定，有让我意外到。
邻近结尾处拍得很棒，反转也挺犀利，不错的印度电影。

因为印象更加深刻
越来越喜欢这种安安静静讲一个故事，情绪很真实，不需要任何过渡的渲染，而就是安静的，真实的讲一个故事。很感人
要引发关注又不能伤人，真是太不容易，需要双方都冷静克制，不然都像女主播或者女警长那样煽风点火，结局肯定是悲剧了
除了警长家属的支线有点刻意，其他都很好。Sandra Bullock这么好的表演竟然提名都没提，离谱。

是努力使非洲发生的罪恶能够像在欧洲那样得到制止，还是使欧洲发生的罪恶也像在非洲那样得到姑息？类似于此，是要以绑架案才能搏得强奸案的关注吗？以及所有人保护的孩童，会不会某一天也变成强奸犯？我们有太多为什么与因为来促成动机，但却无法评判对错
8.0，韩国类型片的味道，但总体中等偏上水平。想到几年前在电影院看的《一个母亲的复仇》，“强奸”这样的话题在印度这样男女比例极度悬殊、妇女权利“脱离”文明世界的国度更容易引爆，我不认为以暴制暴是一种好的处理方式，但面对极度不公时，它永远有必要！
故事并不复杂，但是感情很细腻。桑德拉布洛克的演技绝对撑得起她影后的名头
作为女性太能理解这样的电影的意义（但电影真的拖沓的让人难以忍受了，印度电影特有的那种镜头和剪辑还有配乐真的好烦）片尾最后的三行字真的让人不寒而栗。这就是女性的现实，就像女主对他的律师男友常说的那句话何尝不是说给自己的呢？such a drama queen…但是不用如此极端的方式没有人会听到她的诉求，这就是现实！女性的现实！太草了…看完电影一看时间今天也是一个星期四…fxxk the society
拜托国内的导演不要翻拍，不要去消解女性的苦难。
